CU-SuCCeSS Milestones

CU-SuCCeSS began with a simple belief: if students are given the space to dream, create, and lead, they can help shape a more vibrant CUHK. More than a coffee shop project, it was designed as a non-profit initiative that could nurture student potential, enrich campus life, and give back to the University in a meaningful and educational way.

At the center of this story is The Infinity Room, a bold idea grounded in reality, and a student-led vision that became something truly memorable. Turning that vision into a café was never easy. The space was not originally built for coffee, and every detail, from floor tiles to electrical work and facility standards, had to be carefully reimagined and rebuilt to meet University requirements. Over nearly 10 months of renovation and administrative preparation, the student team worked hard to turn the space into a cozy and welcoming corner for the CUHK community.

The Infinity Room soft launched in July 2024 and opened its doors officially to the CUHK community on 13 September 2024. As the first student-run coffee shop in Hong Kong, its story quickly spread beyond campus, and attracted media attention, became a new symbol of what student ownership can achieve.

The Infinity Room soon became more than a place to serve coffee. It became a story of ownership, teamwork, and possibility, one that resonated beyond campus and drew media attention for its unique spirit and student-led energy. More importantly, it also won the support of many CUHK members, who embraced the café not only as a place for coffee, but as a place for connection, creativity, and shared pride.

As the two-year contract of The Infinity Room comes to an end in June 2026, CU-SuCCeSS continues its journey. The second Pitching Competition was launched to find the next student team ready to carry this mission forward. Among the proposals, Untitled Coffee stood out and won the operation right with its idea of “negative space”, a concept that leaves room for imagination, reflection, and new student possibilities.

CU-SuCCeSS is still unfolding, one chapter at a time. And as it grows, so does its purpose: to walk with students, to colour CUHK with their ideas, and to keep creating stories worth sharing.
